Dear Diary,
I was drawn to Doctors Without Borders because I wanted to help people. Its members go into any country where they're needed. There's no politics, just the question of helping those in need. As a doctor I had useful skills, so I decided to join up. Back then I thought I would be giving children shots in Albania or some small African village. I had no idea that I would be on the front lines of a "hot zone." We have been in Liberia for a year, and it seems we're finally winning the fight against Ebola. However, I still have to follow all the rules. Before entering the hospital, I put on four layers of plastic. It can get very hot under there, but I can't touch my face. That would be too dangerous. There are doctors and nurses from all around the world here, but we all agree on one thing. This is a hard job, but someone has to do it.

我一直嚮往加入無國界醫生的團體，因為我想助人。這個團體的成員會前往任何需要醫護資源的國家，無關政治，一切以患者的就醫需求為主。身為醫生，等於擁有造福他人的醫術，因此我決定與此團體並肩作戰。 想當初，我以為我是會去幫阿爾巴尼亞或某些非洲小村莊的兒童打針，完全不曉得自己會到「災區」前線。我們已經在賴比瑞亞駐紮一年的時間，看來也終於戰勝了伊波拉病毒，但我仍需遵守規定，進入醫院前，我必須穿戴四層塑膠防護衣。防護衣十分悶熱，但我絕不能碰觸到自己的臉部，否則等於讓自己陷入險境。 這裡聚集了世界各地的醫生和護理師，我們大家都有一個共識：那就是這份苦差事，總得有人扛下來。 |
